Rights
It is very
important for all of us -- resident, family, volunteer, staff, friend,
or citizen -- to understand these rights as we work together toward the
same goals: excellent quality of care and life for each individual who
lives in a long term care facility.
Residents’ Rights while Living in a Nursing Home
The rights of nursing home residents are codified in both federal and state statutes
with the intent of further protecting each resident’s civil, religious,
and human rights while they reside in a nursing facility.

The rights of residents in assisted living facilities are codified in N.C. General Statute with the
intent of promoting and protecting each resident’s civil, religious, and
human rights while they reside in an adult care home.
